Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
FailGold (“we”) runs failgold.com and the FailGold browser extension, which let you capture failures of AI tools, remove personal information from them, and submit them to a marketplace where AI developers license them. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices.
The short version
- The extension does nothing until you click its icon (or, if you turn it on, passive detection notices a likely failure and asks you). Nothing is uploaded unless you press Submit.
- Emails, phone numbers, API keys, tokens and similar data are removed in your browser before anything is sent, and again on our servers. You see every removal before you submit.
- Datasets sold to AI developers never include your name, email or account identity.
- You can delete your account from your dashboard at any time.
What we collect
Account: your email address (for sign-in links and notifications) and records of which contributor terms you accepted and when.
Submissions you choose to send: the conversation excerpt you kept (after scrubbing), your one-line note, the failure type and tool, the website's hostname (e.g. chatgpt.com — never the full page address), the screenshot if you include it (after automatic and manual black-outs), an optional voice note and its transcript, and technical details about the capture (extension version, which reader extracted the messages, how many items were redacted).
The extension: stores its sign-in session and your settings in your browser. Captures in progress are held only in your browser's memory until you submit or close them. Passive detection (off by default) reads the open AI chat page on your computer to spot failures; that analysis never leaves your device.
Payouts: the PayPal email or crypto wallet address you give us when you request a payout, and the payout history.
Buyers: organization name, billing/delivery email and purchase history. Card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page; we never see or store card numbers.
Points and royalties: a ledger of the Gold points and royalties credited to you.
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in, and email you about submissions, sales and payouts.
- To review submissions. An AI model drafts a first assessment of each submission (which you can correct), and a person makes the final decision.
- To transcribe voice notes into text and remove personal information we detect from the transcript.
- To build and license datasets of AI failures to organizations that evaluate and train AI systems, as described in the Contributor Terms.
- To calculate and pay royalties, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
- Dataset buyers receive licensed submissions: scrubbed conversation excerpts, notes, labels, scores, voice-note transcripts and screenshots — never your identity or contact details. Voice recordings themselves are not delivered to buyers.
- Service providers that process data for us: Vercel (hosting; AI Gateway, which routes AI requests to model providers such as OpenAI for transcription and assessment), Supabase (database and file storage, hosted in Canada), Resend (email), and Stripe (payments for buyers).
- Authorities when required by law, or to protect rights and safety.
We don't sell your personal information. The datasets we license contain submissions, not personal information about you.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we erase the content and files of submissions that were never sold and anonymize your account. Submissions already licensed to buyers stay with those buyers and are no longer offered for sale. We keep payment, royalty and consent records as long as required for legal and accounting purposes, linked only to an anonymized account.
Your choices and rights
- Review and correct the AI's assessment of any pending submission from your dashboard.
- Turn passive detection off at any time in the extension's settings; this also removes its access to AI sites.
- Delete your account from your dashboard.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or to object to its use. Send a request through our contact form.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with access controls that limit each account to its own records, and screenshots and voice notes are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, which is why we remove personal information before upload wherever we can.
Children
FailGold is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy materially, we'll update the date above and notify signed-in users. Questions or requests: use our contact form.
